CiTY Newsletter - August 1, 2022
Message from CiTY Executive Director,
Tim Ryerson
Tim is sharing his story in hopes of making a difference to the CiTY community about which he so deeply cares, by increasing awareness about the importance of early detection and regular screenings.
On the CiTY front, the club has been busy. Three teams returned from a successful international tour to Sweden, our summer camp program with Howard County Rec and Parks finished its 4th session with record numbers, and many travel teams had optional summer training sessions. As we move into August, CiTY Fall 2022 REC registration is still open, as well as registration for CiTY's Fall 2022 Special Needs program. We have a shop event coming up with our partner, Dick's Sporting Goods in Ellicott City, so take advantage of 20% off storewide to get ready for the upcoming fall soccer season and new school year. Specific information regarding all of our programs is below, and we give a special thank you to all of our club's sponsors!
The CiTY Leadership team is available and welcomes questions, comments, and feedback, so don't hesitate to reach out.
Go CiTY!

CiTY Teams Excel in International Competition During July's Sweden Tour
Three CiTY teams traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden from July 13-24 to participate in the world's largest youth soccer tournament, the Gothia Cup. This year's event is the first since the pandemic hit, and hosted over 1600 teams from 59 countries.
Our club's 2008 and 2007 girls' teams excelled by winning all games in their group stage, and moved to the A bracket. Coach Kristen McManus guided the 2008 girls to a 5-1 record, winning two pre-tournament matches in Orby and Varberg prior to the tournament. Coaches Brian Reardon and Mike McMillion guided the 2007 girls' team to a 7-1 record, to include wins during the two exhibition games and advancing past the first round of the winner's bracket with a win against Sweden's island team of IFK Bjorko.
CiTY's General Manager and Coach Rob Ryerson directed the 05 boys, who traveled and won the initial game vs local rival IFK Orby, and then guided the team through the tournament, advancing to the round of 16 in the B bracket.
CiTY family members participated on the tour as well, providing hometown support during the games vs teams from different nations.
Next year's trip information will come out in September for those age groups eligible to participate.
Congratulations, CiTY!!!
