Dear Desert Horizons Members,

We hope you and your family are healthy, safe and enjoying summer.

We would like to bring you a brief update on the status of the merger between the HOA and the Club.

On June 7th, 2021 the two entities executed Phase One of the Asset Purchase Agreement which transferred the real estate owned by the Club to the HOA, the Grant Deed was subsequently recorded with the County of Riverside on June 9th. While this is an important milestone in this process, there is still much work ahead.

We are currently working on merging the two separate financial operations into one, merging the two groups of employees and corresponding payroll systems, benefits plans, websites, member databases and many other items. I think the best way to describe this process is like having two parallel lanes on a road, as each item is ready to execute, it moves over to the HOA “lane”. Over the next few months, more and more items will move from the Club “lane” to the HOA “lane” until there is only the shell of the Club business. At that time, we will serve notice to the appropriate government agencies that the Club’s business will cease to exist. The Club will continue operating as an entity for a few months until we reach that milestone.

The process of merging the two entities is under the jurisdiction of the Integration Committee chaired by Tom Robinson, committee members include Steve Goldstein, Jay Clancey and Kathy Simmons. Our General Manager, Al Castro is leading a group of managers including Karen Bennett, Kari Foster and Krista Simmons in bringing management’s recommendations to the Integration Committee for review and recommendation to the HOA Board.

We know this is an important time for our community and club and are committed to keeping every stakeholder informed.

Please be sure to reach out to Al Castro at [email protected] or to Karen Bennett at [email protected] for any questions you have regarding this process.

Thank you for your support, we value the confidence you have shown the two Boards as we work to bring Desert Horizons to its rightful place in the Coachella Valley.

Sincerely,

Kathy Simmons, President Jay Clancey, President
