Important Message about Medicaid Waiver Eligibility from our friends at Family Voices Colorado

What you need to watch for:

A letter from Health First Colorado

Recently, Health First Colorado sent letters to some families saying they need to renew their Level of Care Certification or risk losing coverage for Health First Colorado and Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS).

This is due to a glitch in the communication systems between community centered boards and departments of Human Services that may automatically end eligibiity waivers on May 31.

If you received a letter from Health First Colorado, it is critical that you make sure your updated Level of Care Certification has been received by your county Human Services office or your eligibility may expire on May 31 and you may lose coverage.

What to do now:

Contact your case manager at your community centered board and ask them to submit the Level of Care documentation to your county Medicaid office immediately and to send you a copy.

Once it has been sent, contact your county department of Human Services and confirm they have received the LOC and connected it to your Medicaid case for your current waiver/service plan year.

As always, keep records of all communication, including the names of the people you speak with. If you receive a termination notice, appeal right away and request that your benefits will be continued while the appeal is underway.
