While North Carolina has begun reopening we are still seeing a rise in Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases,
especially across Western North Carolina and even more troubling a rise for our most vulnerable communities, many of whom we serve regularly at our food distributions.
It is a good reminder for all of us that
as part of our mission to care for our communities we are called to maintain strong health and safety practices, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment and social distancing.
Sadly, this week two of our rural partner agencies had to shut down due to someone affiliated with them testing positive for the virus. Therefore, this is not the time for any of us to let our guard down.
We are not sharing this information to scare you, but rather to try to protect you, your fellow volunteers, clients, and your community.
It is imperative that all of us stay diligent in terms of our PPE practices.
We know how much you care about your neighbors in need, as we do, and therefore we believe that you will do the right thing to protect the health and safety of all.
We can all agree wearing masks is uncomfortable, especially as the weather gets warm. We also know that wearing masks and maintaining social distancing are
the top ways to slow the spread of Coronavirus. Which is why it remains even more critical to commit to setting the best example on safety for our communities.
The team at MANNA is committed to wearing PPE with you. You’ll find our staff and volunteers wearing masks every day, even when it is hot and uncomfortable. When working in our warehouse, driving a mobile delivery, or supporting a partner distribution.
We continue to ask everyone who picks up a delivery at MANNA to wear a mask. We are also asking anyone who receives a MANNA mobile delivery to wear a mask when receiving food. It takes all of us to keep our teams safe.
We have masks available to our agencies. You can add them to your next MANNA order, at no charge, by looking for the following item listing:
