When we first announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI), we were relatively early in the merger evaluation process. After ongoing Shared Governance work and thorough internal due diligence, we have reached the conclusion that a merger is not the best path forward at this time. This decision underscores our commitment to making intentional and responsible choices that align with the best interests of our community. We remain committed to transparency, thoughtful decision-making, and the long-term stability of our university.

The due diligence process involved a comprehensive review of institutional departments and programing, including academic compatibility, institutional culture, financial sustainability, and long-term strategic goals. Both institutions carefully evaluated these factors to make an informed decision that was best for their university.

While there were some costs associated with the due diligence process, there will be no adverse impacts to NUNM’s financial stability or operations. We are on track for a balanced budget, which includes moving forward with hiring for open positions and the continued search for our next campus location.
