Important Updates
Services, Stewardship Campaign, Life Groups

By Dr. Steve Schibsted, Transitional Pastor

Dear Friends,

As I am sure you are aware, the Omicron variant has caused a spike in the number of cases of COVID-19 in our area. In light of this development, the leadership of our church (Pastoral Staff, Board of Trustees and Stewardship Committee) has unanimously made the following decisions:

  • Our worship services for January 2, 9 and 16 will be online only.  From what we are gathering, the worst of the spike of COVID cases will occur in the next 2-3 weeks and then the number of cases will decrease as quickly as they increased. We do not think it is wise to return to in-person worship during the biggest surge of COVID since we began this journey almost 2 years ago. As the surge abates, we will decide the best Sunday to return to in-person worship.

  • The annual stewardship campaign, which was set to begin Sunday, January 9, is postponed. Our hope is that the campaign will be begin once we are able to worship in person. The informational meeting, which was to immediately follow worship on January 9, will also be rescheduled. The Stewardship Committee would like to have the meeting correspond with the first Sunday of the campaign.

  • Life Groups, which were scheduled to begin Thursday, January 13, will also be postponed until we feel comfortable meeting in small groups. Most likely, the start of Life Groups will begin the Thursday following the start of the stewardship campaign.

One thing this virus has taught us is to remain flexible. We will continue to assess the changing situation and make decisions accordingly. We have all grown immensely weary of this pandemic and all the changes we have had to endure in the past two years because of it.

Let’s be generous in extending abundant grace to one another and continue to pray and have hope that all this will end soon. I long for the day when life will return to close to normal. I am sure you do, too. Until then, let’s be diligent about protecting our health and the health of others.

And let’s continue to love one another as Christ has loved us.

With gratitude in being your pastor,
