Tuesday, June 7th 7pm - 8pm

in the Conard Seminar Room

Hope You Can Join Us!

Parents of Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors - Help Needed

Our small but mighty committee of senior parents & caregivers have been working very hard for the past 8 months putting together a wonderful Safe Grad celebration for seniors, but we cannot set up, run and breakdown the event by ourselves!

We need lots and lots of volunteers to not only help supervise and monitor games and activities at the June 14th-15th event, but also help move games and decorations from St. Mark's Church basement to Conard on Friday, June 10th and back to St. Mark's on June 15th.

Please join us and help put on this fun, safe and exciting event for this year's very deserving grads!

Latest COVID Information from Dr. Morrow

Excerpts from Assistant Superintendent for Administration Andy Morrow's 5/20 letter to families:

  • Connecticut is currently experiencing a surge in COVID cases, and they are urging people to take personal precautions to stay safe.

  • Precautions include the continued recommendation to wear a mask in indoor settings and in crowded outdoor activities.

  • We continue to support and encourage all WHPS students and adults to wear a mask in school buildings and settings to help our community stay safe.

  • Masks and home test kits are available to all students and families at schools upon request.

The Tom Moore Superintendent Grant

$26K for 26 Years

The Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools is pleased to announce that we have launched a campaign to raise money for the Tom Moore Superintendent Grant in honor of Tom’s many years of service and dedication to the West Hartford Public School system.

Tom began his career in West Hartford as a student teacher at Hall High School and was then hired as a Social Studies teacher at Conard High School. Prior to his promotion to superintendent in July 2014, Tom served as a department supervisor, principal, and then assistant superintendent for administration. We have set a goal of raising $26,000 in honor of the 26 years he has served our district.

Help us reach this goal and honor Tom’s career and legacy by donating* to this campaign today at https://fwhps.org/page/tom-moore-superintendent-grant

The Foundation was founded in 1997 and to date has awarded over $1.95 million to the West Hartford school district. The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial support for educational projects, programs, and initiatives that will enhance and enliven the classroom experience and promote excellence in the West Hartford Public Schools. The Tom Moore Superintendent Grant, along with our annual fundraising efforts, will allow the Foundation to continue to support the district in the spirit of Tom’s vision of “Clear Paths, Bright Futures, No Limits”

Tom’s impact on our community has been significant and we are grateful for the 26 years he has spent as a teacher, administrator, coach, parent, and neighbor. Please join us in congratulating and honoring Tom as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.

*Donate on-line at https://fwhps.org/page/tom-moore-superintendent-grant or mail a check payable to The Foundation for WHPS to 50 South

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Over two years of pandemic living has increased stress, isolation, and uncertainty for many teens. Adequate sleep, a balanced diet, exercise, and talking about stressors helps to maintain their mental health. It can be hard to get young people to open up about how they are feeling. Here are some non-threatening conversation starters to check in:

If you have concerns about your child’s mental health, school counselors and pediatricians can offer helpful advice. Click on these links for more resources:
