Help People for Life while you shop!

This Mother's Day, shop for Mom at and Amazon donates to the
People for Life Education Fund.

It's getting busy as we prepare for the Mother's Day Carnation Project, but we thought we had better take the time to pass along several important pieces of information.

Erie Echo Newsletter: May Issue Now Available

The May election issue of our Erie Echo was put in the mail this week. Please let us know if you have not received yours. If you are not a subscriber, please send us you name and mailing address so we can include you next time.

The newsletter is also available online.

We have extra copies to distribute and place (with proper permission) wherever someone might be interested, at your church, for example. Copies can be obtained at People for Life, 1625 W. 26th St., Erie

Election Update: Jay Breneman

When the Erie Echo newsletter went to press, we had no information about candidate Jay Breneman's position on abortion or any other human life issues. We reported only that we sent him questionnaire recently and on two previous occasions in recent years and never heard back from him.

Breneman is running for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 2nd District. This is the seat currently held by Rep. Flo Fabrizio, who is stepping down.

In the last few days, Breneman's position has become very clear. He is endorsed by Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading killer of unborn children (330,000 per year). He has Tweeted his gratitude for the endorsement and is touting the endorsement on Facebook with paid advertising.

Planned Parenthood's ultra-extreme agenda is unrestricted abortion for any reason or no reason throughout pregnancy and full government funding of abortion. The abortion behemoth endorses relatively few candidates and only ones who are fully aligned with their positions of the issues.

Volunteer Needs: Mother's Day Carnation Project

Please think about volunteering this year to help with our Mother's Day Carnation Project.
If you are not currently active with People for Life, this might be a nice way to get more involved and to meet some of your fellow Erie-area pro-life advocates.

The Project requires literally scores of volunteers. Our busiest day will be Friday, May 11, from about 10:30 a.m. until about 5 or 6 p.m. We also need volunteers on Saturday and Sunday.

The job descriptions break down into three basic categories.
  • Nuts and bolts jobs: handling the carnations and all of the related materials and preparing individual orders
  • Driving jobs: making deliveries
  • Sales jobs: at the Millcreek Mall Community Booth
If you think you might like to help, please let us know asap. Facebook Messenger is fine, as are and calling or texting (814) 882-1333.

From the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Any day now, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives could vote on final passage of House Bill 111, which would take away our right to vote for appeals court judges in Pennsylvania. The bill would allow a pro-abortion Governor to appoint judges instead. Pro-abortion groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union and the Women's Law Project have supported the legislation-that is why we need to oppose it now.
Please call your representative in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives with this urgent message: "I do not want my right to vote for judges to be taken away. Please oppose House Bill 111."

Thanks to Prep & Villa

Several dozen volunteers from Prep and Villa prepared our Erie Echo newsletter for mailing in literally record time this past Friday and Saturday. They came out by the dozens and worked very diligently. We really appreciated their hard work. Thank you, Prep and Villa!

Correction: Rep. Pat Harkins voted FOR HB 2050

Our previous E-Mail Update incorrectly reported that state Representative Pat Harkins was not present for the vote on HB 2050, the Down Syndrome Protection Bill. We regret the error and are pleased to report the Pat Harkins was present and did vote FOR HB 2050.

Our information was acquired from the Roll Call that was posted immediately after the vote on the Pennsylvania House of Representatives website. Apparently, there was a typo at that time, which was later corrected.

We contacted Rep. Harkins' Erie office to confirm his vote and apologize for our error.

The correct information is as follows:

Northwestern Pennsylvania Representatives Voting FOR HB 2050
Pat Harkins (D-1)
Lee James (R-64)
Mark Longietti (D-7)
Tedd Nesbit (R-8)
Curt Sonney (R-4)
Kathy Rapp (R-65)
Brad Roae (R-6)
Parke Wentling (R-17)

Northwestern Pennsylvania Representatives Voting AGAINST HB 2050
Ryan Bizzarro (D-3)

Northwestern Pennsylvania Representatives NOT VOTING on HB 2050
Florindo Fabrizio (D-2)

In case you missed our previous E-Mail Update

House Bill 2050, would prohibit abortion in cases where the baby's life would be terminated solely because he or she has been diagnosed with Down syndrome, a relatively common (1 in 350) "disability."

It is estimated that currently in the United States approximately 90% of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted.

Pennsylvania law already protects babies from abortions that would be carried out solely because the parents want a boy instead of a girl or a girl instead of a boy.
