SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

Monday, October 16, 2023


The Fall Special Town Meeting will take place this coming Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Scituate High School Gym at 7pm.

FRONT STREET PAVING PROJECT

Begins Monday, October 16th


The DPW will be working with our paving contractor to repair and repave Front Street. Parking on Front Street will not be allowed Monday through Friday and traffic will be detoured from 6:00 AM to 6:00 pm during the weeks of October 16th - 26th. Weekend parking will be re-opened. Click here for the The schedule of work is as follows:


  • 10/16 and 10/17 - The road will be scarified. This will consist of truck traffic and a large machine grinding the roadway.
  • 10/18 - The contractor has reserved this day incase the scarified operation takes longer than two days.
  • 10/19 - The contractor will be placing an asphalt leveling course to reestablish the crown of the road. This will consist of trucks and a paving crew. The road will be impassable.
  • 10/20 - The contractor has left this day open to finish the leveling course if they can not finish on the 19th.
  • 10/23-10/25 - The contractor will be rebuilding the structures on the roadway and setting the castings to the new finish grade.
  • 10/26 - The contractor will be placing the finished coat of asphalt.

 

The roadway and crosswalks will be marked two weeks after the paving is complete.


This work is subject to weather and scheduling. These dates could slip if the contractor cannot comply with our schedule. The DPW will do all we can to notify everyone and minimize impacts.

Please use caution and prepare for delays. If no work is going on, the roadway will be open but people should use caution as the road will be under construction.
