Dear Members of the Saint Philomena School Community,



As we shared recently, Brian Cordeiro has been offered an extraordinary leadership opportunity as Executive Director of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, beginning in September 2027. We are deeply grateful for Brian’s leadership of Saint Philomena School and proud of the recognition this opportunity represents.

With this transition ahead, the Board of Trustees has begun the search for Saint Philomena School’s next Head of School. This is one of the Board’s most important responsibilities, and the Board and Search Committee are committed to a thoughtful, disciplined process that reflects the strength of our school and the importance of its next chapter.

Our search consultants, Educational Directions, have begun their work with the Search Committee and will be on campus September 21-22. Their visit will provide an important opportunity to listen and learn from members of our community, helping shape the leadership profile for our next Head of School while deepening our understanding of what makes our school community so unique and special.

We welcome your perspective as we look ahead to the next chapter of Saint Philomena School and consider the leadership needed to carry our mission and momentum forward.

In particular, we invite you to reflect on:

• What is distinctive about Saint Philomena School to preserve and strengthen as we look to the future?
• What are the most immediate priorities for Saint Philomena School where our next Head of School should focus their energy and leadership?
• In addition to the above immediate priorities, where do you see the greatest opportunities to build on the school’s strengths and carry the mission and work of Saint Philomena School forward?

We invite all members of our community to share their perspective through the SPS Head of School Search Survey. This input will be an important part of the information considered by the Search Committee and our consultants as the position profile is developed and the search is conducted. Once completed, the profile will be posted to the Head of School Search section of the school website for our community to access and share with members of their network who may be interested in applying. 

Educational Directions will then conduct a broad search for exceptional candidates, drawing on their national network and engaging Catholic educational leaders, the Sacred Heart Network, educational organizations, and other sources of strong leadership. The Search Committee will lead the evaluation process and will ultimately bring its recommendation to the Board for consideration and approval.

We will keep our community appropriately informed throughout the process through email updates. These updates, along with the updated FAQs, are available at any time in the Head of School Search section of the school website.

In the meantime, our focus remains firmly on the year ahead and our students. Brian, the School Leadership Team, and our faculty and staff are continuing the important work of serving our students and advancing our mission.

Saint Philomena School is strong because of its mission, its people, and the community we share. We have an important opportunity before us to identify the next Head of School who will lead Saint Philomena School of the Sacred Heart with courage and confidence, purpose, and vision into its next chapter.
