Important Notice for Santa Cruz Harbor Charter Operators
TEMPORARY WAIVER OF CHARTER FEES

The Santa Cruz Port District Commission reviewed anticipated FY21 budget impacts and responses relative to COVID-19 at its regular public meeting on April 28, 2020.

The Port Commission will grant temporary relief to charter operators by waiving charter fees retroactive to April 1, 2020, until such time that the Santa Cruz County Health Officer's shelter-in-place order relative to COVID-19 allows charters to resume business operations.

Charter operators will see account credits retroactive to April 1, 2020, effective with the May 2020 billing statements. Slip rent continues to be payable by all licensees, though extended payment plans may be available to eligible customers suffering financial hardship.

In response to this and other anticipated revenue losses, the Commission took action to reduce labor, expense and capital outlay, and eliminate contributions to the capital improvement and reserve funds, saving more than $1.3 million in capital expense in this budget year.

No action was taken to amend existing charter fee schedules, which will resume at former established rates when the shelter-in-place ends.
