Update from the Payroll Office

New Paycheck Deduction for Maine's PFML

The State of Maine has established a program that will allow employees to access up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. Access to leave will be available beginning in May of 2026.

Beginning January 1, 2025 employees will be required by the State to contribute 0.5% of their pay to this program. This will be treated as a payroll deduction. For example, if you make $1,000 per pay period, $5.00 will be deducted from your pay each pay period and forwarded to the State for investment in this program.

Please refer to this informational sheet from the Maine Department of Labor to learn more about the Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML).

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Available

The diocese offers a Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) through Group Dynamics. This program allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay medical insurance deductions, copays and other medical care related expenses over the course of the year.

If you would like more information, please visit the Group Dynamics website or contact the payroll office.

Submit Pay Rate Changes Prior to 2025

Please make every effort to get pay increases to the payroll office for the start of the pay year! A pay raise triggers a number of things that need to be done, including revising clergy pension payment amounts for the year.

Use this Payroll Enrollment/Change Form to indicate changes including salary increases, new employees, terminations, or changes in status. (Click here for a Microsoft Word version of the form.) Once completed, please email the form to the payroll office.

It will help us immensely to receive notice of these changes before they need to go into effect. Thank you!
