GPC Program Internship Opportunity
|
|
Late in 2020, SoCalREN launched the Green Path Careers (GPC) Program, an initiative designed to provide young adults transitioning from the state foster care system with the education, training, and guidance needed to start their own career in energy efficiency. The GPC Program provides participants with the opportunity to pursue internships with local contractors to gain hands-on experience. All GPC participants eligible for the internship portion of the Program have earned BPI Certifications, and their salaries are fully funded through the Los Angeles County Youth Employment Program so there is no cost to you!
If you’re interested in learning more about the GPC Program or would like to learn more about how to partner with the Program to provide an internship opportunity, visit the Program page on the SoCalREN site here or contact Wendy Angel.

Managing Project Cost
The Program is implementing a new process to better track project costs.
- First, in the pre-construction stage, Participating Contractors are now required to provide a copy of the customer signed contract or quote with the project’s estimated cost included. The project costs shall only include costs related to the labor for the energy efficiency equipment and installation. The net price, deducting the estimated incentive to be delivered, must be included as well.
- At the end of the project, in the post-construction stage, all Participating Contractors must provide signed itemized invoices for the energy efficiency equipment and labor for installation.
- At project completion, the final signed itemized invoice must also include the net price of the project, deducting the actual incentive delivered.
Please note that the Program staff reserves the right to dispute any prices that seem excessive throughout the project. If you have any questions, please speak with your Account Manager.
Change Order Reminder
Change Orders are required when there is a deviation from the Reservation Letter in the following instances:
- Scope of Work
- Project Cost
- Installation Completion Date
The Program will accept a Change Order subject to Program review. The Program will not accept any increased project costs or equipment quantities without an approved Change Order.

Did you know that adjusting the speed and flow rate of your customers’ newly installed programmable variable speed drive pool and spa pumps, as well as setting the pool pump operation to the appropriate run time based on the site’s turnover requirement, maximizes their efficiency? By adjusting these few settings, you are likely to help your customers capture all the energy savings proposed in the Assessment Report while meeting the California Energy Code calibration standards.
