Dear Parents,

On Monday, April 5, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance regarding cleaning and disinfecting facilities. The agency advises us to use only soap or detergent when cleaning inside surfaces and says that, in most cases, cleaning once a day is usually enough. In general, disinfecting is recommended only when someone known to be infected with the Coronavirus was in the facility within the previous 24 hours. Please review as St. Serra will be adhering to this CDC guidance. The Preschool will continue with its current cleaning protocols.

Additionally, after conferring with our COVID-19 team and staff and along with CDC’s recommendation that ‘removes recommendations for plastic shields or other barriers between desks,' St. Serra will discontinue the use of Desk Shields until further notice. This will be effective Monday, April 19.

As additional guidance comes forward, St. Serra will make adjustments to the least restrictive protocols as allowable by the CDC, Diocese of Orange, and our internal COVID-19 team. Thank you again for your support and understanding in this matter.

COVID-19 Vaccinations for Teachers and School Administrators

The Diocese of Orange has announced that, assuming full FDA approval for the COVID-19 vaccines, all teachers and school administrators will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the 2021-2022 school year. Teachers who have concerns about the vaccine based on medical issues or disabilities will have the opportunity to work with their healthcare providers to determine if they are exempt from receiving the vaccine.

A large percentage of our teachers and administrators have already been vaccinated. We want to ensure that we are doing everything we can to protect the health and safety of all of our students and staff and that we minimize disruption to the learning environment. Nothing is more vital than a safe working and learning environment for our teachers, students and parent community.
