COVID-19 | Memorial Day Edition - May 21
As we celebrate the Memorial Day Holiday, let us all remember those who have fallen in service to our country.  The remembrance of those who have given their last full measure of devotion to protect our freedoms is the reason for the long weekend.  With our freedoms comes responsibility to be safe, especially as we begin to reopen for business.

The Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce, through the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance, advocated for re-opening the northern Michigan region for some businesses. This week, Stacie Bytwork, Chamber President and Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance Chair, joined Governor Whitmer for the announcement that restaurants, retail, and some offices would re-open at 12:01 AM on Friday, May 22nd, with Executive Order 2020-92 (below).

Residents and second homeowners are encouraged to follow guidelines, such as wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing, to keep our community safe and remain open for business.  Together, as individuals and in our workplaces, we can show the rest of the state how to comply with public health requirements and model behavior to allow us the freedom to stay open for business.

In order to reopen, affected businesses must follow executive orders, create preparedness plans, train employees, create signage, wear masks, follow public health guidelines, among other requirements. Your Chamber staff has put together important documents, including guidance, orders, and plan templates. We encourage you to review the attached and but to also visit the Chamber COVID-19 Resource webpage for more information.

As always, please feel free to contact our staff with any questions.
