October 2020 Program Updates
With the end of 2020 approaching quickly, please remember to complete and submit all Program close-out documentation (e.g. final invoices, permit forms, etc.). This will ensure a smooth transition as we head into 2021.

We would like to confirm that there will be updated Program collateral, new 2021 forms, and updates to Program processes that will be available to Participating Contractors at the beginning of 2021. Your Account Manager will have more details about these as we get closer to the end of the year.
The Multifamily Program will also be holding a virtual kick-off meeting where we will go over both the old and new forms, new processes, and 2021 Program expectations. We will also be honoring contractors with awards for all their hard work during 2020. We will have more details on this event later this year and will send out a formal e-vite.
Remaining 2020 Incentive Budget
As of now, approximately 57% of the SoCalREN Multifamily Program incentive budget is remaining for 2020. Budget updates will be included in monthly newsletters going forward. Also, as we close out the year, we will be providing weekly updates on the status of the program incentive budget. We currently have 57 percent of the incentive budget available to commit to new projects. However, our current project pipeline exceeds the available budget for 2020, and we are working with all contractors to issue reservation letters. We expect the budget to be fully committed soon and once it is committed, all subsequent project submittals will be wait listed until the 2021 program budget is announced. Please work closely with your Account Representative to ensure that we can commit your project with the current budget.
As we continue to navigate the rest of the year with COVID-19, please visit the SoCalREN COVID-19 Impacts and Updates page for the latest information on field activities, links to State and local government resources, and other information related to the pandemic.
Financing opportunities for participating customers are in development. Make energy-saving upgrades and enjoy below-market financing! Watch your inbox for more details on the Multifamily Financing Program. We will provide training, marketing materials, and additional support to help Participating Contractors offer financing to customers.
Reminder: 2020 Submittal, Construction, and Close-Out Deadlines
As a reminder, and to ensure ample time to process your projects and incentive payments during 2020, the SoCalREN Multifamily Program has set several submittal and construction deadlines for the remainder of this year. Please review the dates below and work with your Account Manager as needed to meet the deadlines.
  • 11/24/20: Last Day to complete project construction
  • 12/11/20: Last Day to submit project close-out documentation (e.g. final invoices, permit forms, etc.)

We will be prioritizing final inspection and check processing on a first in, first out basis so if any of these dates are missed, project review will slip into 2021.
Congrats to Contractors on Their Completed Projects
Together, both Bright Power and CEGY’s projects with the SoCalREN Multifamily Program created the following environmental impact equivalencies as:
  • Carbon sequestered by 6,471 trees over a 10-year span.

  • Removing 84.5 cars from California roads for one year.

  • Removing Greenhouse Gas emissions from 970,955 miles driven by the average passenger vehicle.

  • 14,866 incandescent lamps switched to energy-efficient LEDs.
Technical Tip
To remain in compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), SoCalREN requires Participating Contractors to use the Trade Ally Portal (TAP) to protect contractor and customer Personally Identifying Information. The TAP is a secure online tool that transfers information between Property Owners and Program staff.

Property managers or representatives may also create a Property Manager application on the TAP where they can upload documents like W-9’s, property owner agreements, utility bills, or any other project-related document.

Please remember to upload all program related documents on the TAP. Based off user feedback; Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are the preferred browsers and compressing photos and zip files make for faster uploads.

If you need an upload slot, are having issue uploading documents, or would like training material for the TAP, please reach out to your Account Manager and they will be able to assist you in providing the necessary resources.

Social Media Project Close-Out Challenge
As we continue to close out 2020 projects, we encourage all Participating Contractors to participate in our social media project close-out challenge. Here is how to enter:
  • Take a photo onsite of one of your completed projects
  • Tag the location and SoCalREN and in the caption use the hashtag #SoCalRENCompletedProjects

Simple as that! You can post on any social media platform such as Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook to enter. Participating Contractors can submit as many photos as they want. On November 1, 2020 we will choose one random winner that used the hashtag, and they will receive a $50 Amazon gift card. The winner will receive notification the first week of November and will be announced in the November Newsletter. Good luck!
