WEAC Region 3 represents public education employees in a large territory stretching from Florence to Port Washington,
and from Menominee to Washington Island.
Please get new member enrollment forms in to the WR3 office NO LATER than Thursday, September 5! This ensures that new members begin their membership at the very beginning of the school year and in time for the first dues payment on September 10.*

*Some Locals have an October 10th start date. And yes, new members can start later in the school year.
Recertification Elections:
Tell WR3 if your Local is participating
NO LATER THAN Thursday, September 12!
Even if your Local is NOT recertifying soon, talking about Recertification is a good idea. You can explain why your Local is not participating, that even without recertifying your UNION STILL EXISTS, and you can discuss the potential for holding a CERTIFICATION election in the future.

  • Here is a flyer that describes the process of Certification and Recertification.
  • Here is a flyer called "What You Need to Know About Recertification."

If your Local IS recertifying this year, please contact the WR3 office by September 12. Voting takes place November 6 - November 26, 2019. Holding a 10-minute meeting is a great opportunity for you to have the discussion about what it all means.
Just a heads up that The 74 is reaching out in WI for comment on recertification elections.

The 74 is a right-wing pro-privatization outfit started by Campbell Brown and funded by the likely suspects. Please let us know if you receive any inquires, as it is not our practice to engage with fake news churners.

The Winnebago County Labor Council invites you to our annual Labor Day Picnic and Car show. For over 100 years, labor in Oshkosh has celebrated workers with picnics and festivities. This year’s picnic will be held at the newly renovated South Park on Monday, Sept. 2. The picnic and car show has no admission. The day includes the car show, music by the band Fork in the Road, raffles and free books for children donated by the Labor Council. Food available at the picnic includes corn, burgers and bratwurst, all reasonably priced. Anyone who would like to display their vehicle is welcome, with registration beginning at 10am. Proceeds from the picnic are used to support the Winnebago Co. Labor Council and donations to local initiatives.

Back to school without teachers: The struggle to keep teachers at rural Wisconsin schools
Hello all,

I've been to several in-service meetings in the last couple of weeks, and there is excitement in the air! One teacher told me, "today is more about socializing than anything." Yes! It's that time of year when we reconnect and recommit to our mission: kids and public education and making sure we support each other.

In our office, we too are truly happy for the time when we get to see all of you more regularly. You can invite us to meetings (or social events!) -- we'd love to come and chat with you.
