"Eye Opener" This Saturday!

Feeling the need for coffee? A donut? Some good conversation with other woodworkers? Interested in learning something new, finding out what the Festool Domino machine can do for you or checking out the new paint job on the inside of Shop 3.0?

Well, you'll want to be at the Member Shop Saturday morning!

The meeting will formally start at 9 am. The presentation will be by Cory Kidder, Regional Sales Manager for Festool. Cory will be demonstrating live some of the many things a Festool Domino 500 can add to your projects. He'll cover some of the basic joint applications but also show us how to use it to make "knock down" projects. And yes, we have one in the Shop!

You're going to love this!

Please Note: "Photographer Robert" will not be available to photograph your work on Saturday. However....he will be back in action at the October "Eye Opener".

Digital Tools Special Interest Group

Immediately following the "Eye Opener" at 10 am, the Digital Tools SIG, led by Pat Duffy, will convene in the upstairs Classroom.

There will be an update on the Digital Tools Computer and instruction on building a toolbox using the CNC.

Of course the excitement is always in the "Show and Tell". Bring in your latest project and let us see what you've been up to!

Safety, Safety, Safety!!!

We have found that most accidents occur when members are in a rush to finish a job .Here are a couple of things that can help us reduce the risks.

Try making a list the night before of what you want to accomplish in the shop.

1.     Make your cut list.

2.     Wood preparation. Milling, sanding, glue up, etc.

a.     Maybe you will have only time for milling as glue up may be best done on the following shop visit.

3.     If you are feeling rushed find a place in your schedule of tasks to stop early.

a.     You will be more focused when you return to it the next time.

4.     Check in with yourself on your mental state. Are you frustrated about things outside of the shop and your project. You want to be sure that you are not feeling rushed or distracted and can remain focused on the tasks and the equipment you are using.
