Dear valued educational agents,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide an essential update regarding recent changes in the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) cap policy and its implications for student applications.
Following the recent announcement, there has been speculation regarding its potential impact on the University of Windsor and its international student body. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, the University has undertaken proactive measures to fortify its already robust enrolment strategies, aiming to mitigate disruptions. Central to these endeavours is an unwavering dedication to our fundamental mission and values, prioritizing academic and research excellence while fostering a vibrant and enriching educational environment.
As you may be aware, the IRCC has implemented a new cap policy that affects the processing of study permit applications. This policy limits the number of study permits processed within a specific timeframe. While this presents barriers for our undergraduate applicant, I want to assure you that we are committed to keeping our partners informed and supporting students through this transition.
At the University of Windsor, we are actively monitoring the situation and working to adapt our strategies accordingly. Despite the challenges posed by the cap policy, there are still opportunities for students to pursue their education with us. We are pleased to inform you that our international cohort master programs listed below remain unaffected by the cap system. These programs provide an excellent opportunity for students to further their education and pursue their academic goals. Currently, all the programs are accepting applications for Fall 2024 intake.
We encourage you to continue supporting students in their applications to our international cohort master programs. By doing so, you can help students navigate through these changes and ensure they have access to quality education opportunities.
We recommend continuing with their application for undergraduate applicants to enable us to make an admissions decision while the Province of Ontario rolls out their provincial attestation program. We have been assured that the program will be rolled out by April 1st, allowing ample time for students to apply for a study permit for Fall.
We understand this may be a challenging time for students and agents alike. Rest assured, we are here to support you every step of the way. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to keeping our lines of communication open and providing you with the assistance you need.
