Marin Women’s Commission Launches New Needs Assessment

Listening to Voices of Women and Girls

The Marin Women’s Commission is embarking on a new countywide Needs Assessment to better understand the most pressing issues facing women and girls in Marin today. This important project follows in the tradition of our past assessments, including the 2008 Women's Speak report that informed county policy and community action around health, education, transportation, senior services, and safety. Once again, we will listen closely to the voices of women and girls across the county to ensure their needs and concerns guide our advocacy and recommendations.

Marin Teen Girls Conference on Pause for 2026

Bittersweet News to Share:

The Marin Teen Girls Conference will be on hiatus in 2026. Rising costs to host the event and difficulty in fundraising make it necessary to pause the conference next year. Since its launch in 2011, the Marin Teen Girls Conference has empowered thousands of young women with workshops, leadership opportunities, and connections that will last a lifetime. The conference has been a cornerstone of our work, and we are deeply proud of the creativity, confidence, and community it has fostered.

Over the past decade, the conference grew into a leading model for youth empowerment and civic engagement in Marin:

  • 3,500+ attendees — Teen girls from public, private, and alternative schools across Marin County.

  • 150+ Teen Ambassadors — Trained in leadership, event planning, and advocacy.

  • 120+ workshops and panels — Covering mental health, body image, leadership, career readiness, healthy relationships, and civic engagement.

  • 200+ professional women — Speakers, panelists, and mentors offering role modeling and real-world insights.

  • 30+ community organizations annually — Providing resources and information on health, wellness, college access, and support services.

Leadership Opportunities for Teens

While the annual conference will be paused, we are working on developing opportunities for teen girls to participate in leadership activities with the Commission. Stay tuned for more updates and make sure to follow us on our instagram accounts (see below).

Looking Ahead

The Needs Assessment study will help determine the best path forward—including whether future programming, such as the Teen Girls Conference, should be reshaped to meet today’s realities. We remain committed to lifting up the voices of Marin’s women and girls and ensuring their perspectives inform county priorities.

Together, we can chart the next chapter for equity, leadership, and opportunity in Marin County. To contact us, send an email to Marinwomenscommission@gmail.com.
