Dear Success Learning Center and FUTURES Plus Families,
As we prepare to begin the new school year, I want to share an important update for our Success Learning Center (SLC) and FUTURES Plus communities.
Thanks to the support of our community through Measure EE, construction is progressing on a new, purpose-designed campus for both programs. While that work continues, we will begin the school year at temporary nearby locations to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment:
-
SLC will temporarily operate from the Wiseburn Middle School campus
-
FUTURES Plus will temporarily operate from the Da Vinci Schools high school campus
We anticipate remaining at these locations through Thanksgiving Break. Our teams are working to ensure a smooth transition and a welcoming start to the school year.
We’re incredibly excited about what lies ahead. The new campus — opening later this fall — will be located behind the Da Vinci Connect and WUSD Preschool Program campus, and it offers significant upgrades that will directly benefit students, including:
-
Fully equipped life-skills classrooms, including a washer, dryer, and full kitchen—giving students hands-on opportunities to build independence and real-world skills
-
Outdoor learning and recreation areas, including proximity to Del Aire Park and a baseball field
-
A dedicated space to rebuild the student garden, supporting therapeutic and functional learning
-
Walkable access to local businesses and restaurants for community-based instruction and life-skills practice
-
Improved student flow and accessibility, with portables designed to meet student needs and dedicated student restroom facilities
-
A familiar setting, using bungalows from our former campus while upgrading the layout to improve function, comfort, and safety
Later this week, we will send detailed information about arrival and dismissal procedures. In the meantime, please:
We understand that transitions can raise questions, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your site administrator, Sarah Green (sgreen@wiseburn.org), with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Blake Silvers
Superintendent, Wiseburn Unified School District
