Dear KCM Family and Friends,
KCM has been severely impacted by hurricane Harvey, suffering loss of equipment, office furniture, supplies, inventory in the Resale Store, and loss of revenue from the sales at the KCM Resale Store that supports the work of KCM.
Despite our losses, we have persevered and as soon as the roads were passable in Old Katy, we still managed to serve over 7,000 individuals in just 4 days immediately post-Harvey. In these 4 days, we experienced an abundance of over 350 volunteers who gave a total of over 20,000 volunteer service hours. Though KCM's buildings were uninhabitable, operations were moved to the parking lot to begin immediately addressing the needs of numerous Harvey survivors that came through. Thanks be to God!
KCM has been blessed by its strong relationships with partnering local churches and we are so grateful for the donations, volunteer hours and resources that continue to arrive. Family Life Assembly of God (FLAG) has graciously allowed us to temporarily relocate KCM Administration, KCM Crisis Center, and KCM Social Services to their facility at 24911 Roesner Rd., Katy, TX 77494. Clothing for victims of Harvey are also being distributed here and we are grateful to the volunteers from FLAG for sorting and organizing them for clients to easily find what they need with dignity. The KCM Food Pantry is still operating from our First Street location and any donations of food, personal care items, clean up or relief supplies can be donated there. Visit www.ktcm.org/harveyrecovery for the most up-to-date list of needs. www.katydisasterresponse.com is another wonderful resource for donations, volunteering opportunities, or resources for victims.
We know that though we have met immediate basic needs for many in Katy/West Houston, that our community will need on-going resources, support, and case management on the long road ahead. KCM is also currently providing financial assistance for disaster relief. Many thanks to our partner churches, individuals and foundations!
I ask that you prayerfully consider giving a one time, or recurring monthly gift to help KCM recover so that we can continue meeting the ongoing needs of our community as it recovers and rebuilds. You can give by visiting www.ktcm.org, mailing your donation to KCM, PO Box 986, Katy TX 77492, or clicking the donate button at the bottom of this email.
Help us Build a Bridge to Tomorrow by helping Katy families move forward.
