Update on Great Hearts School Closure
Greetings,

I hope that this email finds your family well. We are grateful for your patience and cooperation as we navigate the unchartered territory of the COVID-19 impact on our community.

Our team has been working closely with local and state officials on the precautionary measures necessary to protect faculty and students from the spread of COVID-19. Due to the rapidly evolving nature of this situation and with an abundance of caution, Great Hearts Irving is closing its campuses through Friday, April 3 . The earliest that school may resume is Monday, April 6 ; however, faculty and families are encouraged to prepare for a campus closure beyond this date, should circumstances call for it.

As a result, Great Hearts has been working diligently on a remote learning plan. Headmasters will be providing more information and further instructions to families regarding remote learning by next Friday, March 27

  1. For next week, March 23–27, we will not be sending any work home. This week after returning from Spring Break will give teachers time to put together high-quality content for the following week. We understand that these are unexpected circumstances and would like to offer as much support to you as we can.
  2. For the following week, March 30–April 3, all students will be given remote learning packets to complete at home. These packets will be in line with the classical curriculum they are already studying. Packets will be available for download online or in hardcopy available for pick-up at your campus. Internet and a home computer will not be required for students to complete their academic work during this time. Your local academy will communicate the details of how to access and work on these, as well as how to turn in student work and seek both academic and technical support. If schools are closed beyond this time period, your academy will communicate plans for extended remote learning strategies to enhance the Great Hearts curriculum teachers will continue to send home and support.

Thank you again for your family’s patience and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances. In addition to the remote-learning updates coming directly from your campus Headmaster(s) by next Friday, you can also expect updates from the Great Hearts Texas team each Wednesday.

If you have any questions, please email your campus Headmaster or the Great Hearts leadership team at [email protected] .

Sincerely,

Dan Scoggin
