Important Update on Labor
Rules and Regulations

On September 28 ABC is hosting a Labor Rules and Regulation Update seminar, which will include USDOL’s controversial expansion of the definition of joint employer. The enforcement and impact is currently in flux but it is anticipated that it may be a game changer relative to selection and relationships with subcontractors. It will close the case on some already on going issues (i.e. the use of independent contractors) and create the need for clearly defined relationships/responsibilities on subcontractor forms, contracts and in practice. The Department of Labor's Wage & Hour Division (WHD) has issued an Administrator's Interpretation (AI)1 establishing new standards for determining joint employment. The WHD will likely use the AI as justification for charging a greater number of employers with violations of these statutes on the grounds they are joint employers with the offending entity. Whether an employer is deemed a joint employer has significant repercussions for liability purposes, particularly with respect to wage and hour law. READ MORE

We Need Your Help -
House and Senate at Risk

In a wild Presidential election year, it’s easy to forget that the GOP controlled House and Senate are very much at risk, which as we know, impacts every ABC member across the country.
Already, ABC PAC has contributed to campaigns of nearly 250 U.S. House and U.S. Senate candidates that support our Merit Shop philosophy. While this is a great start, there are others in need of help.  To best aid these worthy candidates, ABC PAC needs you in the game.
We hope you will consider making a personal contribution and help ensure a Merit Shop victory on November 8th.
Too much is at stake to not take action. We cannot afford to sit back and simply hope for the best. We must be active. We must be informed.  We must get into politics; or we will be out of business. CLICK HERE to contribute or contact the chapter office for further information.

ABC Leadership / Board Participation Offers Unique Personal and Professional Growth Opportunities, Are You

ABC’s Board of Directors is comprised of equal representation of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and associate members. All Board members have an equal voice and work hard to share perspectives, establish consensus and lead ABC. Each year through the natural progression of Officers and Directors, a couple vacancies need to be filled. It is important the Nominations Committee makes members aware of the nominations process and request any member who may be interested in serving on ABC’s Board of Directors to contact the Chapter Office. We can provide further information with details about the process and the commitment and responsibilities to interested members.

If you would like information about participation as an ABC leader, please contact Mark Holden,, 603-496-3878. Your interest in leadership will be appreciated and is important to the continued success of ABC.

All past and present board members provide their unique perspective and valuable insight to the leadership process, and they have all received common benefits from their participation as industry leaders.
