Important Update regarding
Re-opening of Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Dear Berryessa Community,

As we reach the end of an unprecedented school year, we would like to thank everyone for your support and flexibility during this time. We also recognize students, families, and staff have many questions regarding our District’s plan to physically re-open schools for the 2020-21 school year. As previously shared, we continue to work closely with the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD). Today we have an update and video from SCCOE regarding the process of physically re-opening schools in our county.
While the final decision is pending, we encourage families to view Dr. Mary Ann Dewan’s, Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools, message regarding the many future possibilities.

Although a final decision is pending, Berryessa continues to plan for several possible scenarios. We thank you for completing our first survey. We have received over 2,500 responses and are grateful for the feedback. We know the start of the school year will look different and based on your input we will strive to provide options to the best of our ability for our students. Throughout the summer, we will keep you informed and may be requesting additional feedback as we refine our plans. SCCOE has also provided a survey for parent input this week, which we encourage you to complete.

Lastly, please be sure we have your current contact information in our records to ensure you can receive District updates. We also ask that you regularly monitor our website and social media platforms.

Thank you for your ongoing patience as we navigate through these challenging times.

In community spirit,

Dr. Roxane Fuentes

Update regarding Re-opening of Schools

June 3, 2020

Dear Santa Clara County Community,

The Santa Clara County educational community is eager to know if Santa Clara County children and youth can return to in-person instruction in the Fall. A variety of logistical and public health considerations must be addressed in order to ensure that a return to in person instruction is done as safely as possible. We are working diligently toward that goal. The Santa Clara County Office of Education, school district superintendents, and our educational partners from across our county have been hard at work reviewing and assessing the most up-to-date guidance from the Santa Clara County and California Departments of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and the California Department of Education. We will continue to monitor state level guidance for alignment. Our local implementation will necessarily adhere to the local public health officer orders as they are most responsive to our local health conditions.

We continue to monitor the evolving situation with COVID-19 and assess conditions that must be addressed as we make plans to resume school in the Fall.. . to read full letter .
