Note from Your VCNP President
For much of Virginia, phase one of the commonwealth’s reopening plan began last week. For our members in Northern Virginia, the City of Richmond and Accomack County, phase one is scheduled to begin later this month. Wherever you are in Virginia, I know the last few months have been challenging. Thank you for your commitment to our profession and your patients.

Virginia Department of Health updates
Attached is a letter from Dr. Norman Oliver, Virginia’s state health commissioner, about multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, COVID-19 testing and childhood vaccines. Please review and share this information with your colleagues as needed.
Autonomous practice licensure applications
Governor Northam’s Executive Order 57 allows NPs with two or more years of clinical experience to practice without a collaborating agreement during the state of emergency, which is currently set to expire on June 10. This order is temporary and does not reduce the hours required and need for permanent autonomous practice licensure. If you meet the requirements, please apply to eliminate future practice barriers.
If you have received your license, we want to hear from you! Please share your photo and 1-2 sentences about why you applied for use in future VCNP communications.
Virtual conversations with colleagues
Still have questions? Miss networking with colleagues? VCNP has two more casual, members-only virtual events scheduled for today, May 18, and Friday, May 22. Space for each session is limited to the first 20 registrants, and registration is required. Once registered, attendees will receive an email with the GoToMeeting log-in information. These are the last scheduled calls, however we’re happy to host more if there is interest. Please let us know your thoughts.
Photos needed
2020 is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, and May is National Nurses Month. We want to share photos of our members at work, with colleagues, or volunteering in the community. If there are other people in your photo, please confirm that you can share their image, and identify who is in the photo. Please do not send photos that include patients.

Be sure to follow VCNP on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Thank you for your continued dedication to providing quality healthcare in Virginia. Please let us know how VCNP can support you now and in the future.
