March 3, 2021
Dear Middle School Families,
With a little less snow on the ground and an early spring (fingers crossed) on the horizon, I hope this letter finds you all doing well. The transition back to 100% has gone well. As we make adjustments daily, please continue to encourage your children to stick to our safety practices. Keeping the school environment as safe as possible requires us to stay proactive.
Please note that the school day ends at noon tomorrow (Thursday, March 4th), and there will be no CASE program so all students will need to depart shortly thereafter. And for bus-riders, we were just informed today that only the Bexley, Upper Arlington and Olentangy buses will be able to accommodate our adjusted schedule for tomorrow. No other buses will be available in the afternoon. On Friday, March 5th, parent-teacher conferences last day all so there will be no school for your children and no CASE as well.
Also, we have a few things planned for the upcoming two weeks before spring break. You will be hearing more details about these activities in separate communications, including a parent information event on digital well-being planned for the evening of March 16th that was mentioned in this month’s Viking Voice newsletter. Today, however, I want to give you a preview of a special event for next week. Middle School “Wellness Day” will take place on Wednesday, March 10th, when our faculty is planning a day for students to focus on their social and emotional well-being with fun activities (no classes) and without smart devices (ipads, computers, etc.). Students will be able to choose to participate in juggling, potting plants, jumping rope and beach volleyball, just to name a few of the options. We will also enjoy catered breakfast that morning prior to kicking off the festivities. We are looking forward to giving our students a fun break from their typical school routine as well as promoting social connections and being active on that day.
This year, ERB testing has been moved from early this month to the week of April 19th. ERBs will only be administered at the school. We are constructing the schedule now and will provide more information about them two weeks before. You will be able to view ERB results from spring 2020 early next week through MySchoolApp, and I will send out notification once they are uploaded. Thank you in advance for your patience as we make last year’s tests available. Typically you would have received the results much sooner. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the administration or results of the testing.
Enjoy your evening,
Head of Middle School
