Good morning HFCR Families, 

I hope you all had a wonderful summer in light of the pandemic. We have been working tirelessly all summer to make the best decisions for our HFCR community for the 2020-21 school year. Below please take note of these very important updates as we prepare for the first day of school:

The first day of school will remain as Monday, August 24th.  
The first quarter will be distance learning only via HF Cristo Rey Connect. We will keep you updated during the first grading period of the plans as we continue to receive information regarding COVID cases from health officials. 

Parent Meeting
There will be a parent meeting on Tuesday, August 18th at 6 PM via Zoom. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend as we will provide pertinent information regarding expectations for distance learning, scheduling, Google Classroom logistics and much more. A link will be emailed to you on Monday. Please make plans to attend! 

Grade Level Orientation
We will host grade level orientation sessions via Zoom next week. Every scholar is required to attend their designated session as this will provide information on what to expect during the first quarter, as well as the rest of the school year. Each scholar will receive their Zoom link to their HFCR email address on Friday, August 14th. 

9th Grade Orientation: Tuesday, 8/18, 9-11 a.m.
10th Grade Orientation: Tuesday, 8/18, 1-3 p.m. 
11th Grade Orientation: Wednesday, 8/19, 9-11 a.m.
12th Grade Orientation: Wednesday, 8/19, 1-3 p.m.

Textbook and Chromebook Pick Up
Contactless textbook distribution and Chromebook distribution will follow the schedule below. Upon arrival for your child's designated time, please arrive at the main entrance with your child(ren)'s name written or printed largely on a blank piece of paper that must be placed on the dashboard on the passenger side. A faculty/staff member will bring the scholar's textbooks and Chromebook to the car. Please do not get out of the car. Note that Chromebook distribution is ONLY for incoming students. No Chromebooks will be assigned to returning students. For families receiving Chromebooks, please allow 20 minutes to review and sign the Chromebook policy.

12th Grade Pick Up: Tuesday, August 18th, 9-12 p.m.
11th Grade Pick Up: Tuesday, August 18th, 1-3 p.m.
10th Grade Pick Up: Wednesday, August 19th, 9-12 p.m.
9th Grade Pick Up: Wednesday, August 19th, 1-3 p.m.

Reminders: 

  • If you have not completed your child application for the Free and Reduced meals program, please fill out the form available by clicking the blue button below. You can return the application during pick up time next week. 
  • August invoices were sent to your email address at the beginning of August. You can make payments online. Otherwise, please call 205.787.9937 to make a payment by credit or debit card over the phone. Payments can also be mailed to PO Box 19577, Birmingham, AL, 35219.

  • If you have not received an opt-in text message from our communication system, School Messenger, please contact Mrs. Vann at avann@hfcristorey.org as soon as possible. We will be using School Messenger text service to communicate with our families. We strongly encourage you to opt-in.
