Important VOTING Updates from DRRI
Mail Ballot Applications for RI's June 2nd Presidential Preference Primary were Mailed Out Last Week
Please note that RI’s Presidential Preference Primary will now take place on June 2, 2020 , and will be conducted as a predominantly mail ballot primary.

The State has mailed Applications for Mail Ballot to every registered voter so that voters can vote by mail instead of voting in person at the polls.

If you did not receive a Mail Ballot Application , please contact the Secretary of State's office at 401-222-2340 or visit their website: vote.sos.ri.gov

You must return your Mail Ballot Application in order to receive a Ballot by mail. The postage will be pre-paid by the State. When you receive your ballot, mark it and return it according to the instructions.  Your completed ballot must be received by the close of polls on June 2, 2020.  Allow ample time for your ballot to travel via mail.

There will be a limited number of polling places open on June 2, 2020, with accessible voting systems. The list with these locations is on the Board of Elections website:

All voters who are able to vote by mail are encouraged to do so.
As Your RI Designated Protection and Advocacy System (P&A), DRRI Advocates for Equal Access to Mail Ballot Voting for Voters with Disabilities:
  • In a May 1, 2020 letter to the RI Secretary of State and Board of Elections, DRRI requested the State take immediate action to increase the accessibility features of the mail ballot system.

  • DRRI would like Rhode Island to explore remote ballot-marking tools, similar to those utilized in other states and overseas military voters.

  • DRRI further asks the State to explore expanding the methods by which a voter may submit an application for a mail ballot to include fax and email. This change would improve the ease of the system for all voters including voters with disabilities.
