Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe has been invited to attend the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV on Sunday, May 18, as the official representative of both The Episcopal Church and, in the absence of a sitting Archbishop of Canterbury, the Anglican Communion.

The bad news is this means he cannot preach at our 150th Anniversary service next Saturday, May 17, as he will be en route to Rome.

However, we do have two pieces of good news:

First, Bishop Rowe can still be with us for the 150th Anniversary concert and related events on Friday, May 16; all planned events on that day remain as scheduled. Bishop Rowe expressed his disappointment at having to miss our events on Saturday and is making a special effort to be with us on Friday, as he's departing for Rome early Saturday. He's especially looking forward to the After Party with youth and young adults following the concert. While we're sad not to have him with us for both days as planned, we’re glad to still have him with us on Friday.

Second, Bishop Michael Curry, former Presiding Bishop, has graciously agreed to step in and preach at our 150th Anniversary service on Saturday, May 17, and to attend the reception following. The Bishop who rocked a royal wedding and the world with his sermon on God's love will be preaching especially for us!

In short, we will have both our current and former Presiding Bishops with us on our special weekend.

Come to both events and meet them both!
