For historical reference, this is how Ray Daly acted toward Moore Republican Women (MRW).
As the 2024 MRW Program Chair, Deb Daly (Mrs. Ray Daly) invited speakers to the March 6, 2024, meeting. MRW President Charli Thyne added a political analyst to the speaker lineup to analyze the results of the important 2024 Primary held one day prior. Due to time constraints, some speakers were moved to a different meeting.
On March 18, 2024, Charli Thyne and Kay Wildt, the 2024 president of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women, were each sent a letter from the Dalys' attorney threatening legal action, alleging that they had made defamatory remarks, “to subject her [Deb] to ridicule, contempt and disgrace.” Those allegations were untrue.
- Ray Daly posted defamatory content that maligned the MRW club, Charli and Kay on Facebook pages sent to Moore County residents.
- A Facebook post disparaged Charli and called her trash. Ray Daly responded, “What I specialize in is taking out the trash.”
- A picture was posted of a soldier being bayoneted with the comment, “…let me use this illustration to show the intensity with which we should clean house.” Daly responded with a photo of a man cleaning a pistol, “Here’s a picture of my grandfather, a young officer in WW1. He knew how to do it.”
- Needless to say, Charli was very upset by these physically threatening posts.
- When the MRW Membership Chair called to welcome him as a new Associate, he responded that he was “lawyering up.” He threatened, “Heads are going to roll!”
At the March 20, 2024, meeting of the MRW Executive Board, a motion was passed to censure Ray Daly for conduct, specifically posting derogatory and disparaging content on Facebook, intended to defame Moore Republican Women and 2024 President Charli Thyne.
MRW will not tolerate such threatening behavior in our club.
