United Way will be presenting a BRAND new take on an annual event... our 2024 Assembly! Please plan to join us ONE YEAR from today (10.16.24) at the Bayfront Convention Center beginning at 4:00 p.m. We'll be sharing more details in the coming months so please STAY TUNED!

As previously reported, United Way and its partner Erie’s Public Schools have begun the planning process to launch the Community School Model at Erie High School. This process will include three phases 1: Foundational, 2: Structural and 3: Implementation.

One of the first step currently underway in planning for Erie High is to collect and analyze existing school data and conduct an asset inventory of resources currently available to students and families. Next, surveys will be sent to students, caregivers and teachers to identify various nonacademic barriers. Information will then be reviewed by a diverse group of stakeholders to identify priority needs. Community school directors will then be hired to implement strategies. The goal is to have those community school directors in place by the start of the 24-25 school year.

It's an exciting time at United Way and specifically for the Community School Model. Want to stay up to date? One great way is to follow us on social media. Specifically, we have 16 schools who are sharing content on a regular basis through the hashtag #CommunitySchoolsInAction. Be sure to check out the content being shared on a regular basis for a glimpse into all of the ways community schools are helping to break down barriers to learning and improve academic success.
