Lynchburg NPs met with Delegate Wendel Walker and Congressman Ben Cline last month to discuss the role of NPs in increasing access to care for all Virginians.

Piedmont Region members invited local legislators and candidates to an afternoon polo match and social at King Family Vineyards on October 1.

Election Day is one month away! Did you know that all 40 seats in Virginia’s Senate and all 100 seats in Virginia’s House of Delegates are up for re-election? VCNP is the voice for NPs in Virginia, but we can’t do it without your support! Here are some ways you can help.

  • Get to know your local legislators and candidates by signing up for their mailing lists and attending their events.
  • Participate in your regional legislative receptions. Check with your regional president or GR chair for dates.
  • Donate to VCNP’s PAC. We use these funds to support legislators who champion NP practice.
  • Check the Advocacy section of our website. Additional advocacy information is available in the members-only section.

If you didn’t make a donation to VCNP’s PAC when you renewed your membership, make a donation today! You can also sign up for a recurring donation of any amount. Thank you in advance for your support.

Last month, the Richmond Region hosted its annual pharmacology symposium. In addition to incredible speakers and fantastic networking, the event also included the presentation of the Donna Campanella Distinguished NP Awards to Cathy Bateman and Margaret Teu. Congratulations!

The Lynchburg Region is hosting its fall CE conference on Saturday, November 11 at Centra College. Topics include provider wellness, alpha gal, opioid use disorder, complex diabetic patients and an EKG workshop. Registration includes breakfast and lunch. Register before November 1.

Remember, VCNP members receive discounted fees to these events as well as other programs and our annual conference. If you have colleagues who didn’t renew their memberships by September 30 (or ones who have not yet joined), encourage them to join us today.

Update your member profile

Have you checked your member profile lately? Did you know the most common mistake members make when renewing is to select a region other than their own? Affiliating with the correct region ensures you receive region-specific communications AND allows your region to receive a portion of your membership dues to support local programming.

To check your profile, log in to your member account and go to My Account-Update my Info. While you’re there, you can add a mobile number to receive urgent text alerts, sign up to be a preceptor and add a practice specialty to allow other members to search for you by specialty. At the bottom of the employment info, you can also opt-in to be included in the public ‘Find an NP’ database.

Making our mark

Lynchburg Region member Amy Johnson was one of 15 individuals selected as Ag Superheroes at this year’s State Fair of Virginia. As part of the honor, Amy was featured on her own Ag Superhero trading card and highlighted in a WDBJ news story.
