“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” This quote by author Norman Vincent Peale inspires me to be the best every day. While the last two years have challenged all of us, I continue to be amazed by you, our incredible members. As NPs, we don’t always get recognized for our efforts – so VCNP wants to celebrate you!
Do you own your own business? Are you graduating from an NP or DNP program? Have you been recognized by your employer or in your community? Share your good news with us so we can include your success in future VCNP communications. Send your news and a photo. Thank you for continuing to shoot for the moon!

Lynchburg member and FNP Amy Johnson traveled to Peru in March with Virginia Tech’s VALOR (Virginia Agriculture Leaders Obtaining Results) leadership development program. During the two-year program, Amy visited all areas of the state to experience different aspects of the agriculture industry and meet with local, state and federal government officials to discuss policy. Amy’s doctoral work focused on farm safety and mental health concerns in farmers. She will graduate from the VALOR program in July.

As of May 2, there were 2,268 NPs with autonomous practice licenses. One NP is retired member, Carola Bruflat. “I have worked part time for many years, so the level of required hours (9,000) after July 1, 2022, would not allow me to apply. I have also been retired for 5 years. Now, I am using my “new license” because I work part-time for a state agency. Volunteering is another option for retirees. I would encourage all NPs to apply for this great opportunity!”

Apply for Autonomous Practice Licensure before June 30
|
|
Beginning July 1, NPs will return to the 5-year experience requirement to apply for autonomous practice licensure. NPs who have their licenses before that date will be able to retain them. If you have 2 years of experience, apply now!
