As I reflect on this year’s inspiring conference, I am reminded how privileged we are to be standing on the blood, sweat, tears, and now shoulders, of such giants. I remain amazed at how it all started - with a meeting in Norfolk in 1973 of a like-minded and passionate group of six NPs who were driven to make changes for their patients and practice. 

I am inspired by the decades of NPs who have held the torch and forged our path to get us to where we are today. As your newest president, I am thankful to Dr. Olivia Newby for her dedication and ongoing mentorship. I am humbled to work with you and our new board of directors as we continue to pave the way for the future of advanced practice nursing in the Commonwealth. 

Thanks to everyone who made our 50^th anniversary celebration and conference an amazing success! Special thanks to Helen Willis, Kristen Johnson and the conference committee for their astute planning.
