VCNP members met at the General Assembly last week to support HB 971.

We’re making progress! We were able to reach a compromise with the Medical Society of Virginia to advance HB 971 through the House of Delegates with a 98-1 vote earlier this week. The bill has crossed over to the Senate and will be heard in the Senate Health Professions subcommittee on Friday, February 23.

Autonomous practice update

As of Feb. 1, there were 3,254 NPs in Va. with autonomous practice licensure. Although we hope HB 971 will reduce the transition to practice requirement, current regulations require five years of experience. If you’re eligible, apply now!
