The VCNP Board of Directors at their 2022 Fall meeting.
I enjoyed spending time with your board members and regional presidents in Richmond last month for our fall board meeting. We celebrated state and regional accomplishments, discussed opportunities for membership and reviewed legislative priorities for the coming year.

As we continue our focus on members this fall, we want to highlight members who are certified diabetes educators, family NPs and those who work in pulmonology and endocrinology. If you’d like to be featured in our communications, please send your name, credentials, a photo and 1-2 sentences about why you chose your field or why you love what you do to alissa@commonwealth-pr.com.

New way to support students and VCNP
Thanks to Richmond Region member Merissa Costello, ACNP-BC, for suggesting a creative way to congratulate precepting students while supporting VCNP.

Merissa recently contacted us about gifting a student membership to her students when they complete their clinicals.
Making our mark
Congratulations to Lynchburg Region members Sylvia Denton and Jessica Pack, co-recipients of the Sunflower Award given by the Heart & Vascular Institute at Centra Health. Sylvia and Jessica “have been willing to work over and above the call of duty, developed a reputation as trusted experts in their specialty and taken on additional learning opportunities to help expand their service lines in the inpatient setting.”
Have you received recognition for your work in the office, in your community or from another organization? Let us know by sending your name, credentials, picture and a description of the award so we can share your good news in future VCNP communications.
VDH Updates
The Virginia Department of Health recently shared updates and information about:
  • Meningococcal outbreak in Eastern Region
Regional education programs
Looking for educational opportunities? Our Tidewater and Lynchburg Regions are hosting programs on November 5. Both programs are open to VCNP members and non-members.
Have you applied?
As of Oct. 3, there were 2,684 NPs in Virginia with autonomous practice licenses. Even if you don’t plan to use this license in your current role, applying is an investment in you and the profession – and gives you options for the future.
