Please take 4-5 minutes to respond to this month’s survey by Tuesday, September 14.

VCNP joins vaccination effort
VCNP has partnered with more than 30 other Virginia health care organizations to urge unvaccinated Virginians to get a COVID vaccine.

A press release issued by the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association on September 9 read in part, “As of today, hospitals in the Commonwealth are treating nearly 2,200 patients who have been admitted for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the state 7-day average of new cases had risen to 3,003 as of the beginning of September. In just two months, hospitalizations have increased by 1,008%, and new cases have jumped by 1,217%. With hospital inpatient and ICU beds already filling ahead of a looming fall surge, it is imperative for unvaccinated Virginians to do their part to help save lives and slow the spread of this deadly virus by getting vaccinated.”
COVID vaccine updates
As of September 9, more than 4.9 million Virginians had been fully vaccinated, and more than 5.5 million Virginians had received one dose. Please encourage your patients, family and friends to use Virginia’s centralized system for information about free COVID-19 vaccines – online at vaccinate.virginia.gov or by phone at 877-VAX-INVA (829-4682).

Help us get to 2,000
As of September 1, 1,551 NPs in Virginia have received their autonomous practice license! You’re eligible to apply if you have at least two years of clinical experience (equivalent to 3,600 hours). Help us reach 2,000 licenses by December 31!
Share your autonomous practice stories
If you’ve applied for or received your autonomous practice license, let us know why you applied, how autonomous licensure will impact your practice and why you think it’s important for other NPs to apply. Send your stories – and a photo - to [email protected] for use in future VCNP communications.

Becky Compton shared thoughts about payment parity in Virginia health care during a State of Reform virtual colloquium.
Fall is almost here, and Virginia’s students have returned to schools in the last few weeks. While you may be glad to say goodbye to summer’s heat and humidity, I know fall may bring new challenges for you, both personally and professionally. As you’re looking ahead to 2022, I hope you’ll add VCNP’s annual conference to your calendar. I’m looking forward to seeing you in person at The Omni Homestead Resort, March 2-5, 2022!
