It’s hard to believe that February is almost over, and VCNP’s annual conference is less than one month away. The VCNP Conference Committee has outdone themselves with an incredible line up of speakers and programs focused on mental health, pediatrics, women’s health and acute care as well as generalist and professionalism tracks. As always, there will be many opportunities to build your professional network, catch up with colleagues from across Virginia and enjoy all the host region has to offer. Making our mark

VCNP president-elect Alysia Pack joined professional actors and frontline nurses for a dramatic virtual reading of Sophocles’ Antigone and a discussion about the unique challenges faced by nurses. The performance was put on by Theater of War Productions on February 23.

Blue Ridge Region president Judy Jenks and NP students from Radford University traveled to Richmond to visit with legislators including Del. Dawn Adams earlier this month.

Wendy is the owner of two NP-owned and operated clinics and is the founder of an organization designed to assist NPs with independent practice issues. At conference, she will lead a session entitled “Pain Management & Opioids Update.” Immediately following her session, Camille Schrier, Miss America 2020 and VCU Doctor of Pharmacy student (right), will speak about “Mind Your Meds – Ceasing the Stigma of Substance Use Disorder.”
