“Alone, we can do so little; Together, we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

Fredericksburg Region members attended the annual “The Night of a 1000 Pies” event to support Empower House, a local women’s and children’s shelter, earlier this month.

I’m in awe! Kudos to the regions who have been hard at work planning so many fall activities! It’s exciting to see so many event emails - and some regions hosting multiple activities a month!

Speaking of events, next weekend your VCNP state board of directors, which includes state officers and regional presidents, is meeting in Richmond to prepare and plan for the coming months. Watch for new information and member benefits soon!

To be sure you don’t miss out on any of these updates, don’t forget to renew your membership by September 30. After that date, anyone who hasn’t renewed will lose access to member resources and discounts including regional and state updates and discounted event and conference registrations.

If you have already renewed, thank you! If you haven’t, don’t delay! I hope you’ll join me for another incredible year! Click here to renew.

I’m looking forward to sharing more updates soon. Thanks for all you’re doing to advance NP practice in Virginia!

New CE requirements

The Piedmont Region partnered with the Transformation Freedom Initiative to provide CE credit for the new human trafficking requirement. Pictured with Piedmont Region president Melody Noble (far right) are (from left) Piedmont Region education chair Beth Jaeger-Landis and Anna Nalle, executive director, Transformation Freedom Initiative.

The Virginia Department of Health Professions is now requiring all licensees to complete one hour of CE in human trafficking for the 2024 and 2025 renewal cycles. The Polaris Project offers information and a free evidence-based online credited course. Other courses can also be completed as part of the new requirement.

Free Clinic volunteers needed

Recent data shows that volunteerism in health clinics has decreased by 50% while patient demand continues to increase. The Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinics has a centralized system to connect individuals who are interested in volunteering with the current needs of free clinics.
