Happy New Year – and happy 50^th birthday to VCNP! We’ve come a long way since our beginnings thanks to the efforts of so many dedicated NP volunteers serving in state and regional leadership positions.

As we begin our next decade, we need your help! We’re looking for member volunteers, both early career and experienced NPs, to lead or serve on one or more of these committees – bylaws & operations, education & conferences, government relations, membership, nominations & awards, PAC, and public relations. The 2024 General Assembly session begins on January 10, and VCNP is supporting legislation to reduce the transition to practice requirement for NPs. We are waiting on a bill number and will share that as soon as it’s available.

In the meantime, please sign up for our Lobby Day on Tuesday, January 16 and help educate your legislators about how NPs can help increase access to care in Virginia.

Tidewater Region member Jenni Fellman was featured in a story about Brock Hughes Medical Center’s connection with Rx Partnership to provide free prescription medications to low-income, uninsured patients.

Tidewater Region members Darya Belyayeva and Anna Przybylska have been selected as the recipients of two regional scholarships. Darya received the 2023 Tidewater-VCNP NP Doctoral Scholarship, and Anna was awarded the 2023 Tidewater-VCNP Student NP Award in honor of Cheryl S. Oscar, NP, MSN.
