Advent: the Church's answer to "I WANT IT NOW!!!"

Advent may seem strange to those new to faith in Christ. Even some lifelong disciples of Jesus would prefer to jump from Thanksgiving into a prolonged Christmas season.

What value could there be holding off on the Ho-Ho-Ho'ing for period of preparation?

The irony is that kind of spiritual joy, healing and hope that stays with us in any season following holidays often breaks in at times when the only thing we need to prepare is a place in our schedules for God to enter into our awareness.

Clergy and Congregations in Transition

Rev. Kassie Smith McKee has begun a clinical pastoral education internship as a chaplain at St. Luke's Hospital. Rev. Travis Smith McKee has assumed full-time pastoral duties at Fairview Christian Church until late December, 2019. He will begin a new pastorate at Trinity United Christian Church in Cheney, KS beginning January 1
Rev. Jeff Hon and Rev. Kristin Dow will complete their ministries at New Song Christian Church on December 31, 2019.
Rev. Rhonda Hetzel completed her ministry at Blue Ridge Boulevard Christian Church on October 17th. She is a seminarian at Central Baptist Theological Seminary.
Regional Disciples Women Coordinator, Rev. Veronica Fallah will conclude her ministry at the end of February, 2020.
Rev. Dr. LeAnne De Tar Newbert was recently ordained at the First Christian Church of Bonner Springs
Rev. Cindi Molini was recently installed as the new pastor at the Weston Christian Church

The campus of the now closed South Summit Christian Church is being maintained by our Region with the help of Rev. Mark Willis and Rev. Jeff Hon who are putting in lots of work and travel until the property can be sold to another church.
