Anything is Possible

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

~Matthew 19:26

At times, many of us may have felt that God would love us more if we changed. But Theologian Richard Rohr writes, “In fact, God loves you so much, that you are able to change.” God will not love you any more than He loves you right now.

This assurance of God’s amazing love is echoed many times in Scriptures. One that quickly comes to mind is, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

We can both see and hear of this kind of love in action when lives are changed. There are dramatic turnarounds, but even more inspiring are those individuals who have caught the spark, and their lives reflect a selfless love for others.

That is why it is important to our Christian witness that our lives display this love. We won’t all be like Sister Theresa, but we can try. We should never be discouraged for very long for God enters into all situations: breaking bad habits, learning to love others. This should not just be on the surface, but loving the way God calls us to when he says, “Love your neighbors as yourself.” (Mark 12:31)

Somedays, I know personally, this is a challenge. That is why we need to spend time with God daily in quiet time. Quiet time means you don’t do a lot of chatter, but bring your prayers and petitions to God and then listen. Ask for His presence and guidance throughout the day.

This has become is my morning petition to God:

Lord, be with me throughout his day

Guide my mind and my thoughts today.

Guide my lips to show your love.

Guide my feet to follow your ways

That when this day ends, the things I have done are pleasing to you.

In Jesus name I pray.

Spending this time with God will result in many blessings, even in things you may think are impossible.
