Dear friends and neighbors,

This week, I proudly voted YES on the bipartisan FAA Reauthorization Act. It strengthens aviation safety standards, increases air traffic control and the safety inspector workforce, implements runway safety tech and hassle-free refunds, no-fee family seating, and 24/7 customer service. In our district, we're proud to have secured over $200 million to upgrade our state-of-the-art Orlando International Airport with a new terminal, runway improvements, a pedestrian bridge, and more. Tourism keeps our region alive, so we must invest in infrastructure to ensure we can properly support visitors. Team Soto was also proud to include a provision to re-establish an advisory board to make recommendations addressing the needs of passengers with disabilities. We are pleased to see the right to a safe and dignified flying experience prioritized.

We were also thrilled to see our Consumer Safety Technology Act pass the House! It will direct the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to launch a pilot program exploring the use of artificial intelligence to protect consumers, require the U.S. Department of Commerce to study blockchain technology in the context of consumer products and safety, and direct the Federal Trade Commission to report on efforts to stop unfair trade practices related to digital tokens. We thank Reps. Burgess, Trahan, and Guthrie for working with us to ensure the U.S. remains a global leader in emerging technologies to protect democratic values and consumers in the face of technological developments.

In addition, we were honored to have Casa de Venezuela of Orlando and Venezuelan organizations from around the country in Washington this week. We had incredibly productive conversations about our efforts to support Venezuelans fleeing the Maduro regime and discussed the work still left to do to restore democracy there.

I'm proud of our accomplishments this week and look forward to working in the district and in Washington to improve the lives of Central Floridians next week.

Factory Construction TRIPLED!
We are entering a manufacturing renaissance as factory construction TRIPLED! Thanks to President Joe Biden and House Democrats, our Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act are driving this Biden Boom. As a result, we see expansions at NeoCity, Lake Nona, and Green Garden Village.

Passing our Consumer Safety Technology Act out of the House of Representatives
Our Consumer Safety Technology Act passed the House! Expanding Access to Rural Internet
In the Energy Commerce Committee's Communications and Technology Subcommittee, we heard from NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson about the FY25 NTIA budget. In Florida, we've invested billions through the American Rescue and Infrastructure Law to expand rural internet access to East Orange, Kenansville, and Deer Park, as well as help families access low-cost plans.
Working to Support Venezuelans in the U.S.
It was an honor to have Casa de Venezuela of Orlando and Venezuelan organizations from around the country in Washington this week. We had incredibly productive conversations about our efforts to support Venezuelans fleeing the Maduro regime and discussed the work still left to do. We've worked with the Biden Administration to secure an extension of Temporary Protected Status for Venezuela and create a humanitarian parole program including individuals from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua. I also introduced the Venezuelan Adjustment Act to create a pathway to permanent residency. During this week's summit, I had the opportunity to speak to attendees with my colleague, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, about our bipartisan efforts for the country. My chief of staff, Liana Guerra, also joined the summit to discuss our bill and provide updates on progress. This morning, I was joined by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz for a press conference highlighting our accomplishments and renewing our commitment to keep fighting for free Venezuela. We were honored to hear from Raymart Vasquez Marquez — a Venezuelan TPS recipient about her story.
Meeting with the Orange County Farm Bureau
Team Soto welcomed the Orange County Farm Bureau to Washington as we continue working on this year's Farm Bill. It is critical for us to support our farmers, ranchers, and growers by combatting citrus greening, supporting disaster relief, increasing research, and more to help feed America. We must also support SNAP and school lunch programs to help ensure every family has access to quality food.
Discussing Improvements for Port Canaveral
It was great to host Port Canaveral leadership. Canaveral is America’s busiest cruise port, has many fishing vessels, and hosts commercial rocket barges. We are investing Infrastructure Law funds to improve the port and working to build a new rocket dock.
Speaking with Transport Workers About Air Travel Improvements
We met with the Transport Workers Union to discuss the over $200 million in airport upgrades we've secured for our state-of-the-art Orlando International Airport, as well as a new control tower for Kissimmee Gateway Airport to improve air travel. Proud to stand with our transportation workers who keep our nation moving ahead.
Team Soto in the Community
Team Soto is hard at work in our district connecting with the community. We are here to serve FL-09 and are grateful for the opportunity to do so.

American manufacturing is back and stronger than ever. Thanks to the Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, we're witnessing job creation and increased investment across the country and right here in Central Florida.

PACT Act Resources for Veterans
Toxic-exposed veterans in Central Florida deserve to access all their rightfully earned benefits without issue.

For more information, visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-698-2411.
There has been an increase in PACT Act-related email, phone, and social media scams targeting veterans by offering to submit claims on their behalf. Click here to learn more.
Emergency Mental Health Care for Veterans
Veterans can receive no-cost emergency mental health care at VA or non-VA healthcare facilities. Veterans can use this benefit whether or not they are enrolled in the VA system. This policy will save lives.
Insulin is Now No More Than $35/Month for Seniors
During the 117th Congress, House Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. Now, millions of seniors no longer have to ration their insulin because they can’t afford it.
I am proud to be your representative and look forward to our continued efforts to improve our district! Please do not hesitate to call my office with any questions or concerns.
