Tips for Improving Your Child’s Academic Outcomes

Speak with your child about how using i-Ready will help them prepare for class work.

Also explain that i-Ready will show teachers where your child is doing well and which topics need some more review.

Encourage your child to take each lesson and quiz question seriously.

Emphasize “thinking before clicking,” because just clicking through will not give teachers an accurate report of what your child knows.

Encourage your child to use the tools that appear at the bottom of the screen in some lessons.

Help your child identify and become familiar with the different parts of the student dashboard.

Track and celebrate your child progress.

Your child should aim for 30 minutes daily of i-Ready Instruction per subject and maintain a passing rate of about 70 percent of lessons.

Contact your child’s teacher about how often your child should practice at home, or with any other questions about i-Ready.

UNITED WAY OF THE LOWCOUNTRY PARTNERS WITH JASPER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Jasper County School District (JCSD) and United Way of the Lowcountry (UWL) are very excited to be able to partner again this year. More specifically, it is especially exciting to have tutors in-person at Ridgeland Elementary. In fact, tutors began working with students during the first week in November 2022.

In addition, United Way of the Lowcountry will also continue its Kindergarten Read Aloud and Pre-K Play Partners Programs in both schools; Hardeeville Elementary and Ridgeland Elementary. This program will provide tons of books for the students to take home.

By entering into this partnership, UWL and JCSD agree to work collaboratively and systematically to identify and implement best practice strategies focused on the following:

  • Student Learning,
  • Family Engagement,
  • School Effectiveness,
  • Community Participation to improve outcomes in the area of Early Grade Reading.

UWL agrees to dedicate the time and resources of the Education Impact Team of staff and volunteers to implement strategies that will work toward the goal of increasing the number of Third Grade students reading on-grade-level.

Thank you, United Way of the Lowcountry!
