Delaware State Chamber Members:

Chamber Update
Statewide economic development policy is an important part of the mission here at the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. While the plans and points of emphasis may differ among the Delaware Prosperity Partnership, and each county, municipality, development district or private investor, all are busy trying to attract new businesses to Delaware. An important factor in deciding to locate a business anywhere is the speed with which approval decisions are made. That makes job growth and development dependent upon the time it takes our state and local permitting officials to complete these necessary steps to regulatory approval. Another facet is whether there are clearly delineated timeframes for this decision-making process.

While no one wants to put public health or safety at risk, we must be creative in finding ways to streamline and accelerate permitting decisions. If surrounding states and municipalities are competing for the same job growth opportunities we are seeking, we have no choice but to be faster, smarter and quicker than the competition. Therefore, we need your help and input as we look for innovative ways to improve permitting. In the coming weeks, we'll be announcing details about a statewide economic development conference that will highlight our strengths and how we can leverage them to address areas needing improvement.
