AGB Search Closes Out Successful 10th Year
This year, AGB Search celebrated a decade of trusted search partnership by continuing to provide exceptional guidance and services to higher education institutions, but with a unique twist: While the pandemic created challenges to our typical search process, AGB Search quickly pivoted to successfully conducting national searches in a virtual environment. Some of our recent notable appointments include:
Ms. Madeline Pumariega was named President of Miami Dade College.
Dr. Tod A. Burnett was appointed Vice President of the University of Alaska Foundation, and Chief Development Officer of the University of Alaska.
Dr. Scott Stallman was named Provost of Dunwoody College of Technology.
Dr. Sally C. Morton was named Executive Vice President of Arizona State University's Knowledge Enterprise.
Over the past 10 years, we have grown into a full-service firm offering Executive Search, Interim Search, and our Compensation Evaluation Service, and we have built our team to more than 65 search professionals, research associates, and office staff. We specialize in six practice areas: President & Chancellors, Provosts & Deans, Research Leadership, Administration & Finance, Advancement & Foundations, and Community College Leaders.

As 2020 comes to a close, all of us at AGB Search wish to thank you for being a part of our community, and we offer our sincere hope for a new year of continued excellence and growth.

With warmest wishes,

Rod McDavis
Managing Principal
In Memoriam: Dr. Joseph Johnston
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Dr. Joseph Johnston. Joe joined AGB Search in 2013, where he served as Senior Consultant and Director of Interim Search and the Compensation Evaluation Service. He stepped down in late 2019, capping off a decades-long career in higher education. In addition to dedicated service to our clients, he also co-authored invaluable resources for executive search, including "A Complete Guide to Presidential Search for Universities and Colleges" and "Presidential Compensation: A Comprehensive Guide for Higher Education Governing Boards and Chief Executives."

Beyond his professional contributions to the firm and the sector, Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and friendship. He will be missed by all of us here at AGB Search, and our hearts go out to his family at this time.

Rest in peace, Joe.
AGB Search presents its newest installment of “Voices from the Academy,” in which we talk with higher education leaders who are guiding their institutions through unprecedented change. This month, Chancellor Emeritus of SUNY and Director of the AGB Institute for Leadership and Governance Dr. Nancy Zimpher and University of Nevada-Las Vegas president Dr. Keith Whitfield discuss the importance of fit assessment when considering a new position, whether in-house or with a new institution, and the need to plan and strategize around the pandemic in a holistic fashion.

AGB Search Principals Peggy Plympton and Monica Burton provide a positive perspective on how the pandemic has led to increased collaboration and strategic partnerships - internally and externally - for higher education institutions.

On “Talent Talks” with Hunt Scanlon Media, AGB Institute for Leadership & Governance Director Dr. Nancy Zimpher and AGB Search Managing Principal Dr. Rod McDavis describe trends they are seeing in the higher education sector related to leadership and to the presidency specifically. They also discuss how the Institute is designed to assist leaders in forging their path towards a higher education presidency, and how the next generation of leaders can enact change and make an impact on their offices.

Applications are now open through January 29, and nominations will be accepted until December 30.
