DMMC Golf Outing a Success

Over 140 sunscreen-covered mayors, managers, trustees, Corporate Partners, and business friends braved the tropical rainforest-like conditions and enjoyed the DMMC Golf Outing held on July 20 at the beautiful Village Links of Glen Ellyn. The sampling tent of Revolution Brewing Company of Chicago and Shoeless Joe's of Addison was a popular stop along the top-rated, 7,200-yard, championship 18-hole course, giving golfers a brief respite from the 89% humidity that day. Robinson Engineering, Ltd., celebrating 80 years in business, provided participants with golf balls, alleviating any losses on the course, and Azavar Government Solutions provided wonderful tote bags for each participant. The popular putting contest sponsored by Call One, Inc. kicked off the afternoon and Nick Nolfi drew the winners, Eric Rose from Thomas Engineering and Paul Koszarec from Terracon, by raffle. Lea Jackman of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association earned the women's longest drive award, sponsored by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., and Jim Gunther, from the Village of Westmont, was recognized for the men's longest drive, sponsored by The Horton Group.
In the late afternoon, Glen Ellyn Village President Diane McGinley and Village Manager Mark Franz formally welcomed attendees to the Village Links. A highlight of the event was the raffling of 34 magnificent, mayor-donated baskets. Winning tickets for the baskets and other prizes donated by The Concord Group, Dave and Roberta Williams, Serafin and Associates, Al Warren Oil Company, Inc., BMO Harris Bank, N.A., HR Green, and The Village Links of Glen Ellyn were announced by DMMC President and Mayor of Addison, Richard Veenstra.
Thank you to everyone who attended and/or participated in the DMMC 2017 Golf Outing. Photographs of baskets, golfers, and other images of the day can be viewed on DMMC's Facebook page. Like us on Facebook

Grant Opportunities
As a component of our Strategic Plan, we look for opportunities to notify our membership of various grants and grant programs:
The State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grant
The State Farm program encourages "safer, stronger, and smarter communities" by providing local governments with funding opportunities that focus on three areas: safety, education, and community development.

The 2018 grant application will be available beginning Friday, September 1, 2017 through Tuesday, October 31, 2017. The grant amount requested must be $5,000 or more.

For further information about State Farm's Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grant, visit their website here.
The Walmart Foundation's Community Grant Program
The Walmart Foundation's Community Grant Program is designed to help better the communities that Walmart stores and facilities serve, in the areas of career opportunities, hunger relief and healthy eating, sustainability, and strengthening communities. Because Walmart wants to give back to local communities, the application process and award will be handled largely through the local store or facility.
The 2017 grant cycle is available through December 31, 2017. The grant amount requested must be between $250 and $2,500.
