For our LA County Housing Hero, Katherine Peoples, Executive Director of HPP Cares a leader advancing thoughtful, responsive housing solutions. During the Los Angeles fires, she provided steady leadership, guiding displaced families with coordinated resources and clear paths to recovery, grounded in dignity and stability.
Her strategic focus on ADU outreach and development continues to expand practical housing options, while her advocacy for equitable homeownership is opening doors for first-generation and underserved households.

Housing Hero Erika Toriz of Haven Neighborhood Services, a dedicated leader advancing equitable, community-centered housing solutions. Through her VITA work, she has helped working families and immigrant communities’ access critical tax resources, build financial stability, and connect to broader pathways for economic mobility. Her commitment to uplifting immigrant households is reflected in her culturally responsive approach and trusted presence in the community.
Through her leadership at HAVEN Housing Services, Erika continues to champion practical strategies that expand access, strengthen stability, and create lasting opportunity for underserved families.
