Thank You to Two Longtime Supporters
Laurel House's longtime supporters, The Rachel & Troy Foundation and Aqua Pennsylvania, visited us recently to show their support for our Capital Campaign.

The Rachel & Troy Foundation was created in memory of Rachel and Troy Engle to assist and support agencies that educate, support, and care for children and families who are victims of abuse. We are grateful to Ron and Sue Gamza, and the entire Foundation, for their consistent and unwavering support of Laurel House and the people we serve.
Essential Utilities and Aqua Pennsylvania have been loyal supporters of Laurel House since 2005. For over 130 years, Aqua has been providing water and wastewater services to millions of people across the country. Their support will help to enable us to relocate our shelter and expand support services to those impacted by domestic violence in Montgomery County.

Thank you both for your support.
"Why I Stayed" with Lovern Gordon
Laurel House and Montgomery County's Your Way Home recently sponsored an event featuring author and domestic abuse survivor Lovern Gordon. Ms. Gordon is the Founder and President of the Love Life Now Foundation, Inc. Ms. Gordon shared her story of survival, triumph, and inspiration to a crowd that included domestic violence survivors, agency and shelter workers, and more.
Ms. Gordon's memoir, The Legacy He Left Me, details the abuse and violence Ms. Gordon witnessed at the hands of her father, then later in her own relationship. Since then, she has created awareness in multiple cities by hosting events year round, which have in turn raised thousands of dollars that have benefited shelters in various cities. She believes prevention and awareness are key in helping to eradicate this issue, which are cornerstones of Laurel House's mission.

Thank you Lovern for sharing your story with us!
Laurel House officially named a "Zone of Peace"
Laurel House has been recognized as a Zone of Peace by the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia!

The Zones of Peace Steering Committee voted unanimously on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, to recognize Laurel House as a Zone of Peace. Laurel House is answering the Religious Leaders Council’s Call to People of Faith to Stop Violence which asks us to “make our homes and neighborhoods zones of peace free from fear, filled with respect, and marked by deeds of kindness.”

Thank you to the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia for the recognition of our work. Together we can create peace and end domestic violence.

The 4 Local Foundation Beer Festival: Venue Change
On September 18th , The 4 Local Foundation will be hosting a unique beer tasting experience for the craft beer lover while raising funds for Laurel House. The event will now be held from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at Blueprint Brewery.

This year's event will be a rodizio style beer tasting type event where a group of attendees are seated at a table for the entirety of the event and the breweries will rotate around to each table to talk about their beer and their brewery. Unlike a normal beer tasting festival, the breweries will be bringing cans instead of kegs. Their cans will be in a cooler at each table, and one of the attendees will be the “bartender” for the table. Each brewery’s representative will then talk about their featured beer and answer any questions before they move to the next table.

Will you help support us and The 4 Local Foundation in creating this unique beer tasting experience?

Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Share Your Story
We need your help!

October is just around the corner, and with it comes Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

This year's theme for the month is #Every1KnowsSome1. Everyone has a story, whether it's their own or witnessing someone else's unfold. Stories can be a powerful tool in the healing process, allowing us to communicate with people who understand and in turn, benefit from hearing a shared experience.

Are you interested in sharing your story? Click here to tell us about it. You can submit anonymously, with an alias, or with your name.
Your Support in Action
"I thank you and the wonderful people at Laurel House for helping me know that I was not alone in my situation and that there is hope, love and light out there if I could only pick myself up and look.

You and the staff that I've had the pleasure of speaking with have been amazing and I do give you all credit for helping me understand that I needed to change my thinking and how I needed to focus on myself emotionally and physically in order to start the healing process.

Thank you again for all you do. Trust me, you are working miracles in all of us and I can't thank you and the women in the group enough for helping me realize that we can rise up.

Keep empowering women to make the change. We will all prevail."
